Inn At The Convent
This beautiful old building opened on Sunday the 30th of January 1916 as home to the sisters of St Joseph. The Covent was sold in 2003 and In 2016 June Nevin purchased the building and has been restoring it to its former glory.
Each room is unique, with high ceilings and a warm atmosphere. June has an extensive art collection which adds to the charm of this beautiful old lady.

You cannot miss Lauren’s Lavender Farm, 8500 lavender plants there is a fabulous cafe (best coffee in Taumarunui). Situated on the edge of the Whanganui River a must see! You can also purchase all your Lavender products made with the oils from the property.
There are some great walks and The Rangaroa walk is only 5 minutes around th corner, on a clear day you can enjoy the sight of all the mountains when you reach the top (around 35 minute walk).
Nevalea Alpaca Farm, is only a 15 minute drive from here, this is the largest Alpaca Farm in New Zealand. You can also purchase Alpaca products.
Taumarunui Golf Course is one of New Zealand’s top Country courses for those who enjoy a round of golf.
If you fancy a high tea the Chateau is only 50 minutes scenic drive. National Park is 40 minutes away and the Tongariro crossing.
New Zealand’s only self proclaimed Republic, The Republic of Whanganomoma is 88kms from Taumarunui, along the Forgotten Highway.
We are 3.5hours from Auckland, 2 hours from Hamilton, 1.5 hours from Taupo, 2hours and 10 minutes from Rotorua, 3 hours from Napier 4.5 hours from Wellington.
